OGRA to suspend license of companies selling adulterated petrol – Business

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)- The Oil and Gas Regulation Authority (OGRA) has received report from committee probing sale of adulterated petrol, reported Roznama Dunya on Monday.

OGRA would initiate disciplinary action against oil marketing companies (OMCs) under light of recommendations of inquiry committee.

According to details, inquiry committee obtained samples from petrol pumps of different companies and got them tested from Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan. It should be recalled that Atlas Honda had informed OGRA about the sale of spurious RON-92 in the market.

Sources privy to development told our correspondent that OGRA might suspend license of the OMCs involved in aforementioned illicit practice and slap hefty monetary penalties.

Inside-aware further stated that oil-refineries are making petrol of EURO-II quality whereas new models of vehicles require EURO-III and EURO-IV.

When contacted, official of Oil Companies and Advisory Committee denied sale of spurious petrol.
